A short introduction
After a childhood spent overseas, Lucy Jackson has never formed a strong attachment to any particular place. This lack of attachment leads her, as a composer, to seek inspiration in a wide variety of sources, from Greek and Chinese mythology to the stories of Ray Bradbury to her own dream-like imaginings of a city landscape. As a graduate student at Stephen F. Austin State University, she has created new instruments that explore the musical potential of water. Whether she writes for these instruments or for the more conventional ensembles of the classical tradition, she strives to give her music a unique but flexible voice.
