Sean Jackson was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1994. He grew up overseas, first in Argentina, and then in Azerbaijan. He learned the basics of piano at an early age, but drifted away from music until his teenage years, when he revisited piano and began to seriously consider a career in music. In 2011, he enrolled at Ouachita Baptist University and studied under Dr. Patrick Houlihan, and graduated with a BM in composition in 2015. He is now pursuing a MM in composition at Stephen F. Austin State University, where he studies under Dr. Stephen Lias.
As a composer, he enjoys writing works inspired by literature, fantasy, and mythology. He aims to be versatile, and to embrace whatever musical language best communicates the meaning of the piece. His most recent projects have been a flute piece inspired by the Monkey King from Chinese folklore, and a three-movement string quartet based on Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, still in progress. In the coming months, he will begin work on his graduate thesis.
