At last, I’ve finished grad school.

It was a good chapter of my life. I’ve gone through all kinds of changes in the last two years, both public and private, and now I’m suddenly adrift. I could do anything next, or I could do nothing. I need to look for a job, and keep the refrigerator stocked with food, and maybe sometime soon get around to cleaning the apartment again. I need to relax, I need to finish reading a few books, and I need to stay in touch with people. It all feels too complicated, sometimes.

Soon, I’d like to start showing off some of the things I did in my final year as a grad student. One part of my thesis involved creating instruments that used water to make music. Everything I came up with was simple and relatively cheap, so I’m hoping to share instructions for building them, along with some demonstration videos.

I also recently composed a new piano piece. I still haven’t decided exactly what to do with it, but I’ll have more to say about that soon.

Life is uncertain right now. I never quite know whether I should feel hopeful or terrified because of that. Either way, I have lots of choices to make right now, and I’d better get to work making them.
